This eye-catching collection of concrete vases from Tiipoi is inspired by urban infrastructure in present-day India. It’s also about how, in India, concrete is often transformed from a purely functional material into an opportunity for decoration.
Bangalore’s plans to build an overground metro system in the late 90s never came to fruition. Yet dotted around the busiest parts of the city you will still see the desolate but strangely seductive pillars that were installed but on which tracks were never laid. For this concrete vase, Tiipoi miniaturized the functional and architectural features of these oversized sculptural structures. Pipework and joints were rendered into decorative elements.
Each design was 3D-printed, the moulds made out of silicone and the pieces cast in concrete.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This items are made with a material that has a very artisanal and rough finish so imperfections like small grooves or indents in the edges are to be expected, but these facts in no way take away from the beauty and quality of these vases.
