Each backpack and accessory is handcrafted in Hungary; they source the high-quality leather from Italy. Instead of using plastic, Ykra uses thick cotton canvas from the Czech Republic. All metal accessories and webbing are made in Hungary. These are all natural materials that will one day break down and disappear without a trace. The combination of high-quality materials and attention to detail leads to long-lasting products that age beautifully. Ykra wants you to use your backpack (or accessory) for as long as possible and repair it when needed instead of buying a new one.   

Balázs Lakatos, Ykra's creator, being very much against the throwaway culture of today, says, “I have a real nostalgia for well-made things; what we (YKRA) are really about is the era when things were made with a bit more human touch. Our goal is to create items that have a bit more soul, last you a bit longer, and will age with you.”
