This brand's passion for the mountaineering gear of the 70s was the motivation to create colorful, vintage style backpacks, that don’t just look good but are also functional for everyday use. Ykra makes backpacks and accessories, handcrafted from the finest quality materials in Europe.

Each backpack and accessory is handcrafted in Hungary, they source the high quality leather from Italy. Instead of using plastic, Ykra uses thick cotton canvas from the Czech Republic. All metal accessories and webbing are made in Hungary. These are all natural materials that will one day break down, and disappear without a trace. The combination of high quality materials and attention to detail leads to long-lasting products, that age beautifully. Ykra wants you to use your backpack (or accessory) for as long as possible, and repair them when needed, instead of buying a new one.

Balázs Lakatos, Ykra's creator, being very much against the throwaway culture of today says “I have a real nostalgia for well-made things, what we (YKRA) are really about is the era when things were made with a bit more human touch. Our goal is to create items that have a bit more soul, last you a bit longer, and will age with you.”

Todas las mochilas y accesorios se fabrican a mano en Hungría y el cuero de alta calidad procede de Italia. En lugar de usar plástico, Ykra utiliza lona gruesa de algodón de la República Checa. Todos los accesorios de metal y las correas se hacen en Hungría. Todos estos son materiales naturales que un día se acabarán y desaparecerán sin dejar rastro. La combinación de materiales de alta calidad y la atención a los detalles da lugar a productos de larga duración, que envejecen maravillosamente. Ykra quiere que utilices tu mochila (o accesorio) el mayor tiempo posible, y que la repares cuando sea necesario, en lugar de comprar una nueva.

Balázs Lakatos, creador de Ykra, está muy en contra de la cultura de utilizar y tirar de hoy en día: "Tengo una verdadera nostalgia por las cosas bien hechas, lo que nosotros (YKRA) queremos es la época en que las cosas se hacían con un toque más humano. Nuestro objetivo es crear artículos que tengan un poco más de alma, que duren un poco más y que envejezcan contigo."
